This notice explains optional website analytics on the Law Office of Ariel Brownell website. It covers this website measurement service; it is not a description of how we handle legal matters, client records, or communications with the firm.
Your choice
Google Analytics stays off unless you select Accept analytics. You may select Decline analytics and continue using the website and booking a consultation. The Analytics choices button lets you review or change your preference. We remember that choice in this browser for up to 180 days. If your browser cannot save it, your choice may apply only to the current page.
What we measure
If you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand visits to public pages, referring websites, and clicks on Schedule a Consultation. We send the public page path, a limited page label, the referring website’s domain when available, and basic interaction information. Recognized source labels in links may identify ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity as a source. A source label does not independently verify where a person first learned about the firm.
Our analytics setup does not send form contents, client or matter details, full referring-page addresses, or the query strings and fragments from page addresses. We do not enable advertising personalization or Google Signals. We do not intentionally connect analytics activity to client identities. A scheduling-link click tells us that someone clicked the link; it does not confirm that a consultation was booked, paid for, or attended.
Cookies and browser storage
After you accept, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies with names beginning with blga_ga to distinguish browser visits and sessions. We configure these analytics cookies to expire within 180 days, without extending that lifetime on each visit. We separately use browser storage named brownell.analytics-choice to remember your analytics preference for up to 180 days. Browser settings or clearing cookies and storage may shorten these periods or cause the website to ask for your choice again.
Google’s processing
When analytics is enabled, your browser connects to Google. Google receives technical information associated with those connections, including your IP address and browser information. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Google may use IP information during collection to derive approximate location; this does not make analytics data anonymous. For more information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Changing your mind
Use Analytics choices and select Decline analytics to stop future collection through this setup. If analytics was already running, the page reloads to turn it off and remove this site’s analytics cookies. Information already sent while analytics was enabled is not erased by changing this browser preference, and a request already in progress may finish. Your choice applies to this browser; other browsers and devices have their own settings.
You can also review Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Booking and other services
Consultation scheduling takes place on Clio Grow, a separate service. This website’s analytics choice controls the optional Google Analytics setup described here. It does not change Clio Grow’s own privacy practices, booking requirements, or the information you choose to provide when contacting the firm.
